Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about using Pro Bible. Can't find your answer? Contact us.
Is Pro Bible really free? Do I need to create an account?
Yes. Pro Bible is completely free to use. You do not need to create an account, log in, or register. All content—reading by book and chapter, the daily verse, and the list of translations—is available as soon as you open the site. We do not charge for any feature. The site may show advertisements to help cover hosting costs; see our Privacy Policy for how we handle data in connection with ads.
How do I read a specific book, chapter, or verse?
Go to the Read page. Use the dropdowns to choose, in order:
- Language — e.g. English or Spanish
- Version — e.g. King James Version (KJV) or New International Version (NIV). The list updates based on the language you selected.
- Book — e.g. Genesis, Psalms, John
- Chapter — The chapter list loads after you pick a book. Select the chapter you want.
- Verse — Optional. Leave as "All verses" to see the whole chapter, or pick a single verse for a focused view.
Then click Go. The passage will appear below. You can use the font size buttons to make the text larger or smaller, and the print button to print the page. Links for "Prev" and "Next" chapter let you move through the Bible without re-selecting from the dropdowns. The URL in your browser uses the language and version in the path (e.g. /read/en/kjv), so you can bookmark or share a direct link to a translation.
How do I choose a translation? What's the difference between KJV and NIV?
Different translations use different wording and style. The King James Version (KJV) is a classic, formal English translation from 1611. The New International Version (NIV) uses more modern, everyday language. Other versions (e.g. ESV, NLT) fall somewhere in between. There is no single "best" translation—it depends on your preference for language style and, for study, sometimes on which translation your church or group uses.
On Pro Bible, you can see all available translations on the Translations page, grouped by language. Pick any translation from the Read page dropdowns and try a familiar passage to see how it reads. You can switch languages and versions anytime.
How is the daily verse chosen?
The Daily Verse page shows one verse per day for the language and version you choose. You can pick your translation using the dropdowns on the page (e.g. English / King James Version). The verse is selected automatically based on the current date (year and day of the year), so you get a different verse each calendar day. Everyone using the same language and version sees the same verse that day, so you can share "today's verse" with others. We do not manually pick or comment on the verse—it is chosen by a simple, consistent formula so that over time you see a variety of Scripture.
What languages and versions are available?
We offer multiple languages and versions, including English (e.g. KJV, NIV), Spanish, and several Indian languages (e.g. Telugu, Hindi, Tamil) where we have been able to add content. The exact list depends on what has been loaded into our system. You can see everything currently available on the Translations page. New translations may be added over time; we do not guarantee availability of any specific translation.
If you need a language or version that is not listed, you can contact us and ask. We cannot promise to add every request, but we do take feedback into account when we add new content.
Can I use Pro Bible on my phone or tablet?
Yes. Pro Bible is designed to work on phones, tablets, and desktops. The layout adjusts to your screen size, and the Read page includes font size controls so you can make the text comfortable to read on a small screen. You do not need to download an app—just open your browser, go to Pro Bible, and use the site as you would on a computer. You can also add the site to your home screen for quick access.
Where does the Bible text come from? Can I trust it?
The scripture on Pro Bible comes from trusted sources, including content made available through projects like fetch(bible) that provide text in the public domain or under open licenses. We do not alter the biblical text. Each translation has its own copyright and attribution; we display attribution where required and explain our approach on the Copyright & Attribution page.
For in-depth study or doctrinal use, many people also consult print Bibles or official publisher editions. Pro Bible is intended for personal reading, devotion, and general reference. If you notice an error in the text, please contact us and we will look into it.
